Lyrics of the Day – Landslide – Fleetwood Mac

Last night Lina Gaundenzi (@linagaundenzi) sang Landslide by Fleetwood Mac on The Voice and I was once again reminded how very much I love the lyrics in this song. Click here to hear her beautiful rendition. #TeamXtina

Landslide

Stevie Nicks has said that she wrote this song while she was contemplating going back to school or continuing on professionally with guitarist Lindsay Buckingham. While in Aspen, Colorado with the Rocky Mountains as her backdrop she was inspired. Thank goodness for the world that she chose the latter option.

One reason I love this song is that the lyrics are open for interpretation and you can make this song fit your world. I’ve heard this song as a father/daughter dance at a wedding, I’ve seen it used in tv shows to evoke extreme emotion…whatever its use, it always strikes a nerve with my emotions. Click on my favorite lyrics of Landslide, below, to find your own meaning of this song.

“I’ve been afraid of changing
‘Cause I, I’ve built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Children get older
I’m getting older too oh yes
I’m getting older too

So, take this love, take it down
Oh if you climb a mountain and you turn around
If you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well the landslide will bring you down, down
And if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills”
